Hello! My name is Judson Cole. I am the owner of the new Rio Anglers guide service and fly shop. With 15 years of experience as a passionate fly fishing guide, I’m dedicated to sharing the beauty of the Texas Hill Country with fly anglers of all skill levels. I have extensive knowledge of the Guadalupe River below Canyon Dam and the trout fishery therein. Since 2001 I have worked on or around the Rio Guadalupe Resort property, and we have recently come together to provide a fishing component for the Resort guests. I currently live in Blanco, Texas with my wife, Tara, and two daughters, Paisley and Kinley. My “girls” like to fish and we try to get out on the river as a family as often as possible. I love all aspects of trout fishing; the water, the fish, the bugs; all of it!  Trout has become my specialty in my guide career, and even more precisely, catching trout on tiny “bug” flies. During my time at Tarleton State University, I took several Entomology classes in pursuit of a Horticulture degree. These classes opened my eyes to the fascinating world of aquatic insects, which are a vital part of a trout’s diet. I’ve used this knowledge to develop effective fly patterns that mimic these insects, leading to successful fishing trips for my clients.Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced angler, I can help you improve your skills and have a memorable fishing experience. I specialize in tailwater trout fishing with small flies, specifically the Guadalupe River.
